Study Abroad Info & Links
I spent my junior year of high school as an exchange student to Ecuador. I lived with an Ecuadorian family (mom, dad & 3 kids under age 10) in a small town in the Andes, went to an Ecuadorian high school, and basically just participated in daily life with my host family and friends. The exchange program took us on a few excursions to see other parts of the country (including the Galapagos) but mostly the idea was to assimilate into the culture and learn the language. It was an amazing year, and I highly recommend the experience to anyone who is interested.
Below is a link with information on a variety of study abroad programs. Programs vary in length from a few weeks to an entire year, and start dates differ depending on the country. Many of these programs are VERY expensive, so look for scholarships!
